Tips To Properly Maintain Your Vinyl Inground Pool
A swimming pool is an investment that you want to take care of. With proper pool maintenance, your vinyl inground pool will provide you with enjoyment for years to come!
Here are some tips to make your vinyl pool last longer:
- Maintain a proper chlorine level
The proper chlorine level for a vinyl inground pool is around 1-4 ppm. Keep within this range if possible. - Check your pool’s pH level
7.2 to 7.6 is the optimal pH balance to extend the life of your swimming pool liner and ensure your pool is comfortable to swim in. - Monitor your pool’s calcium balance
Calcium buildup can damage your pool. Try to keep the water hardness at 150-300 ppm when maintaining your vinyl inground pool. - Use pool supplies intended for your pool
It may sound obvious, but using pool supplies (such as cleaning implements, brushes, vacuum heads, etc.) that are intended for use with a vinyl inground pool will extend the life of your vinyl pool liner and reduce the need for pool repairs. - Brush your pool regularly
Brushing your pool ensures that algae, dirt, chlorine and other contaminants are kept to a minimum and prevents staining and fading of your swimming pool liner. - Maintain the water line
Keep your pool at the appropriate water level and regularly wipe down the area to avoid build up which can stain your vinyl pool liner. - Avoid draining your pool completely
Removing all the water from a vinyl inground pool removes water pressure and can cause your vinyl pool liner to shrink or tear, resulting in the need for pool repairs. Consult with a professional if you need to drain your vinyl pool for any reason.
